Our Program
Education and Leadership
The cornerstone of the For Sisters program is Education. We have partnered with the Thunderbird School of Global Management from Arizona State University to offer DreamBuilder. Dream Builder is an online course that teaches the skills and knowledge to start or grow a business. The program is interactive, convenient, and available in both Spanish and English. By completing the Dream Builder curriculum, participants develop essential business and financial literacy. The course covers planning, marketing, pricing, management, and more.
To complement the business skills that our graduates acquire through DreamBuilder, we are very excited
to announce a new partnership with Fundacion Amandi, a non-profit organization based in Miami.
This collaboration resulted in our first workshop: “Discover your Personal Power to Make your Dreams a Reality”, focused on honing leadership and empowerment skills.
Mentorships for Success
In addition to offering support to participants during the DreamBuilder course, a second component of
theFor Sisters program is the one-on-one mentorships that we provide to all those who have graduated.
The objective is to refine the business plans developed during the course, and take them to the point
where they are ready to participate in the business plan competitions.
Experienced business professionals who have launched successful businesses volunteer with us as mentors. They offer invaluable experience and insights into what it means to start, manage and grow a business.
Mentors help our graduates with specific issues they face, help them develop problem-solving skills,
point them to other resources available, and increase their confidence.
Grants
Graduates from the business course are eligible to participate in the business plan competition,
where they present their business idea to our Board of Directors for a chance to win grants
to finance their business. Grants are typically $5,000.
